Many people arrive in the city by bus and walk to the Grafton area shops. We point out delights and highlights but also use red flags to identify risks in walking through this busy shopping area.
You start with a delightful walk across Christ's Pieces, an area of parkland laid out in Victorian times. Crossing to New Square brings you to Fitzroy St and then Grafton St, both 'shared space' at times for walkers and cyclists and very busy and cluttered. We call for improvements in safety for walkers, especially if older, infirm or managing buggies or young children.
